Transformative Psychotherapy
I believe that everyone has the capacity towards achieving personal fulfillment. Together we can identify barriers in your life that are making this difficult to achieve. As your therapist I will provide guidance and support on your journey. I will work with you to create self-directed goals and allow a safe place to explore feelings, experiment with new perspectives about yourself, and accept challenges, all as part of the process of change.
I have been working with individuals in the mental health field since 2005, beginning my journey working with children and adolescents in a variety of settings. I completed my internship at Washington County Corrections working with addictions and recovery, facilitating individual and group therapy in Seeking Safety and Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention models, and later provided adult outpatient therapy for a non-profit agency. I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and hold a Master of Art in Counseling Psychology. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy , DBT, and Mindfulness to help make fundamental changes in perspective and to help shift the way you view your personal experience. I also utilize EMDR to help alleviate distress related to past disturbing memories and trauma. I am amazed by how EMDR works and its effectiveness for not only trauma, but other areas such as depression, anxiety, and relationship problems.
